Bruce Carruthers
Bruce Carruthers is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Viet Nam from February 1967 to May 1968. He has a service connection rating due to exposure to Agent Orange. Bruce holds master's degree from Syracuse University (Sociology 1970), University of Denver at Colorado (Healthcare Management 1997), and Wichita State University (History 2006). He worked for the VA for 30 years. Half of his career was in human resources and the other half in hospital management. Bruce worked at 10 VA facilities, including small community-type hospitals, psychiatric facilities, highly medical school affiliated hospitals, and a three-year stint in VA Central Office. Bruce is a member of the Veterans for Peace National Save Our VA Steering Committee and the vice-president of his local VFP chapter. He resides in Western North Carolina.
