Tom has an MSN in Community Health Nursing from Yale University and was a Family Nurse Practitioner. As an FNP, he served and learned from diverse communities including in rural East Tennessee, for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe in Michigan, in Corrections Health and, finally, with students of every background for 26 years in School-Based Health Clinics.
These experiences led Tom to become a staunch advocate of healthcare as right and for a single payer universal healthcare system. Tom has served as HCAO President since 2017.
